Frequently Asked Questions

How many treatments will I need?

Most patients need between 5 to 10 treatments before seeing complete removal while smaller tattoos may only need 3 to 5 treatments. The number of treatments needed is specific to each patient and their tattoo. In order to best estimate the number of treatments you will need, we must first assess your tattoo in person. During your free consultation, one of our laser technicians will determine how many treatments you will need based on a variety of factors, including age of tattoo, size of tattoo, ink colors, depth of ink, and patient health.

Are there any side effects?

The most common side effects that patients experience are temporary redness, scabbing, blistering, itchiness, and lightening or darkening of the skin. All of these side effects are temporary and will disappear over time, along with your tattoo. Do not be alarmed at the sight of blisters or scabs. These side effects are completely natural and are good signs that your skin is healing. We advise patients to refrain from picking any scabs or blisters as this may lead to infection or risks of permanent side effects.

Can you fade my tattoo for a cover-up?

Absolutely! We provide a range of tattoo removal services at Blacklist Laser Tattoo Removal, including complete removal, partial removal, and fading for tattoos in preparation for a cover-up. Cover-up tattoos hide existing artwork through the incorporation of new elements or a completely new design. Unfortunately, tattoo artists have a harder time covering up existing tattoos due to the amount of ink that is already in the skin, especially tattoos with darker inks. Laser tattoo removal is the perfect solution for cover-up tattoos as they provide a lighter canvas for tattoo artists to work on. Faded tattoos give tattoo artists more flexibility with their design, less room for error, and better results for your skin. Our close relations with Blacklist Ink Tattoo Studio can get you in contact with one of their talented cover-up tattoo artists. Just ask us and we'll give you a referral!

Does laser tattoo removal hurt?

Most patients compare laser tattoo removal to having a rubber band snapped against the skin. Patients may experience slight discomfort but should find the overall experience to be very tolerable. Fortunately, laser tattoo removal is a very quick procedure and lasts anywhere from 1 to 20 minutes depending on the size of the tattoo being treated. Blacklist Laser Tattoo Removal provides skin numbing solutions to mitigate any pain and ensure our patients receive the maximum amount of comfort during their treatment.
